Best of Oscars Jewelry

The Oscars’ red carpet is like a diamond-encrusted accessory heaven.  We were dazzled by Anne Hathaway’s $10 million Lucida Star diamond necklace from Tiffancy, Gwyneth Paltrow’s colorful playful Louis Vuitton “L’Ame du Voyage earrings and brooch, and  Hilary Swank’s chic Anna Hu hair pins.  Check out the prettiest, most sparkly accessory moments on the red carpet.

Our favourite is Nicole Kidman’s rare 19th century opera length necklace with over 150 carats of mine-cut vintage diamonds from Fred Leighton.  She wore the necklace as a choker, allowing a string of diamonds to flow down her back.

AMY ADAMS wore $1.35 MILLION in Cartier emerald and diamond jewelry.

MARISA TOMEI wore a pair of statement earrings from Van Cleef and Arpels.

CELINE DION wore Bulgari 18-carat yellow gold necklace featuring diamonds, green spinel and emeralds, and an accompanying 18 carat yellow gold ring.

GWYNETH PALTROW Louis Vuitton “L’Ame du Voyage” high jewelry earrings, containing diamonds and colored stones on yellow gold, and a matching brooch embellishing her waist.

NATALIE PORTMAN wore Tiffany & Co. rubellite tassel earrings with rose-cut diamonds.

REESE WITHERSPOON dazzled in 35-ct. Neil Lane emerald and diamond earrings, diamond and platinum bracelets, and diamond and emerald ring.

MILA KUNIS looked romantic in a lavender silk chiffon and lace gown from Elie Saab, and diamond and platinum Neil Lane ribbon earrings.

PENELOPE CRUZ wore a pair of 27-ct. diamond Chopard chandelier earrings

CATE BLANCHETT wore Van Cleef & Arpels vintage yellow diamond earrings, surrounded by white diamonds and set in yellow gold, and an Cleef & Arpels tassel diamond bracelet, containing 127 diamonds set in yellow gold.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON wore a pair of Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie ruby stud earrings, and “Dragon Flower” ring with with emeralds, diamonds and cabochon rubies.

MANDY MOORE wore a pair of 10-ct. round Chopard pavé diamond earrings.

HILARY SWANK looked chic in Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie exotic twin orchid hairpieces, made of purple titanium metal and approximately 200 diamonds.

JENNIFER HUDSON dazzled in Neil Lane 10-carat diamond long basket earrings, three Neil Lane wide platinum and diamond bracelets, and 20-carat fancy colored diamond ring.

HELEN MIRREN always so classy and elegant, in Van Cleef and Arpels diamond jewelry.

Co-host ANNE HATHAWAY was adorned in Tiffany’s $10 million Lucida Star diamond necklace and Tiffany diamond earrings and ring.

It Is Just Meant To Be.

The Province newspaper picked our Eugenia necklace as one of the Valentine’s Day gift ideas.  It is actually quite fitting that the editor picked this necklace.

Everyone always asks me “how long does it take you to make one necklace?”

My answer is “it varies…depends on when I find all the right components.”

Eugenia took a while to come together.  The chain is from a very old necklace (early 1900s) I bought in New York last summer.  The pendant is made up of two vintage pieces – the center is a 1950s filigree floral dress clip from an estate sale last fall, and the base of the pendant is actually an earring, which I got recently from a flea market.  But when I saw all three sitting on my work table, I knew right away that they belong together….the color, metals, and the intricate pattern of each piece…. it is just meant to be.
